Nominated the most international city in the world with half of its citizens born elsewhere, Toronto Canada's largest city is definitly worth a visit as a destination or a stopover on your way to somewhere as Toronto Pearson Airport is home of Air Canada. Air Canada offers more flights than any other carrier in and out of Toronto.
Toronto Pearson is a big airport so take your time to clear immigration and customs and get ready for the city.
The city offers a large number of accomodations for every budget. I am lucky enough to be invited by Toronto Tourism and to stay at the Park Hyatt Hotel downtown Toronto.
Park Hyatt Hotel is in front of the Royal Ontario Museum, not too far from a fabulous high end shopping street, the famous gay village is only a few blocks away with the center in Church Street.
A walking tour around downtown is a very good start, unless you are visiting in winter. Temperature can be as cold as you could never imagine, in this case discover the underworld of Toronto, with miles and miles of shopping street underground.
The waterfron promenade is impressive with the skyline all over around you. Toronto is a living and a growing city.
Take a tour to Casa Loma and discover the rich history of this city and inhabitants since the beginning.
The Distillery Historic District although founded in 1832, it wasn't until 2003 that this 45-building complex was reinvented as an historic district and a center for arts, culture and heritage with restaurants, galleries, theaters, cafes, spas and much more.
Hockey is Canada or Canada is hockey? Whatever this is a museum that every visitor should take time to see. Never been my preferred sport I was delight to discover more about this sport and to have a great time inside. Yes you can play hockey inside, and you never know some hunky player could just pass by to check that his name is still on the Stanley Cup on display!
Another must do is the CN tower one of the highest building in north america, after a few seconds to arrive on top you have a view over the city till Niagara falls on a clear day.
Toronto offers a unique scene on musicall, most of those played later in New York and London are first played here, if it works here it can work everywhere.
The gay village is a vibrant neighborhood in downtown Toronto, from Carlton st. to Hayden st. and from Yonge st. to Jarvis st. with in the middle Church Street.
In Church street you will find everything from bars to clubs, from saunas to shops. If its gay its here.
Toronto also host a few of the largest and important gay event in north america, such as the annual gay pride, gay film festival, Folsom up north, etc...
During your visit to Toronto a one excursion to the Niagara Fall and Niagara on the Lake is a must do. The fall can be visited in the afternoon, during the day enjoy the calm of Niagara on the Lake probabily the most beautiful old village in Canada and the wineyards around it. Wine tasting is another option, but make sure you don't drive.
